Mia Kaplan’s fabulous collage-like paper sculptures are currently on view at Ann Koerner Antiques, but you can find her sculpture as well as her paintings in galleries and collections around the world, as well as at the New Orleans Botanical Garden at City Park. A residency there inspired her recent show “Spring,” as did her Spanish grandmother’s love of artificial flowers. “Fake flowers are a symbol of joy and a fuel to fantasy,” says Kaplan. “Without regard to the pride in having grown a flower through toil and process…one can just skip through the story and get straight to the happy ending. With my work,  I want to show the marks and the messiness of moving toward the end result.” For more of Kaplan’s work, go to Ann Koerner Antiques on Taigan.com.
