We prefer a more private celebration, especially one at which we are sporting Sandy Simonian’s limited edition diamond and oxidized silver pendant on a 29-inch hand-forged silver chain. The Times Square ball is a clunky crystal affair, while Sandy’s own drop is covered in 200-plus shimmering diamonds and measures a generous three inches.

Erickson Beamon’s Smoke and Mirrors earrings add a sexy lace touch to any holiday look. Crystals covered in black “lace” hang from oxidized sterling silver chains. Flirty and festive, they’d be great with a simple LBD or almost any of the looks featured above.

We love the leather waistband on these great looking silk pants from Funktional with pleated front pockets and a tapered silhouette.

Every detail on this black leather jacket from Hoss is perfect, from the five buttons at the cuffs to the very fitted silhouette. Perfect for pairing with everything from silk dress to jeans.

Martin Grant’s typically understated leather skirt and long sleeve wool knit top is actually one chic piece. Available at Chalk, the skirt has a vent and top-stitch detail, and the top has leather trim at the neck.

This black stretch wool sheath may be our favorite dress ever. Designed by dsquared2, it is both ladylike and modern with a chic leather waistband that culminates in a bow in the back. Wear it to work, wear it to cocktails, wear it everywhere you go!

This Humanoid leather tunic is one of the most versatile pieces we’ve seen.  The buttery thin leather and nude color make it virtually seasonless, and it can pair with leggings, pants or jeans, or go solo as a mini.

Victor & Rolf’s fabulous lambskin jacket has an asymmetrical zip front and the added benefit of actually keeping you warm. The lining is quilted silk, while the high collar and back panel are in virgin wool knit.

This supple leather dress by New York designer Lyn Devon has a drop waist and is fully lined in silk.

Style Paris’s black crepe Utopie jacket and Milou skirt comprise the season’s most versatile day-into-night suit. We love the subtle glamour of the jacket’s bracelet-length sleeves and the jet, vintage-style buttons, as well as the skirt’s flattering tapered lines.

We are head over kitten heels for Bettye Muller’s satin and suede pumps. Oh-so-ladylike and terribly pretty, they are also surprisingly sexy—the square cut low vamp is enormously flattering to the ankle and calf.

Susan van der Linde’s Gardy bag belies the notion that practicality and a little extra room has to translate into a big shoulder bag or floppy tote.  This black Buffalo leather “travel bag” is perfect for the working woman, or, indeed, the traveler, and we love the sophisticated patent accents—especially the heart-shaped ones at the handle.

We like towering spikes as much as anyone, but these Stuart Weitzman 1.75 inch “Poco” heels seem so right for the moment—and for pretty much every suit or dress in the fall closet.

The Gisele bag by Susan van der Linde comes in butter or bone Buffalo leather and is lined in grosgrain silk. We are crazy for its refined lines and perfect size. An incredibly elegant everyday purse for every lady.

We can just picture this enviably chic woman arriving home—to her duplex apartment on Chicago’s North State Parkway, say, or her townhouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.  She’s returning from a board meeting, or, more interestingly, a long clandestine lunch. Either way, she looks fantastic in Hache’s wool camel coat from G. Gilbert, a pair of citrine clips from Amanda Pinson on her ears, and a Dries van Noten faux tortoise and fur clutch (the one everyone smart enough to spot in on the fall runway just had to have) under her arm. She takes off her fabulous Retro Super Future sunglasses and tosses the clutch and her keys onto the tole tray in her entrance hall. As she goes through her mail (which is, of course, almost entirely comprised of invitations), she steps out of her Bettye Muller python and suede heels, while her new pale yellow lab puppy nips at her ankles. Now we’re just dying to know what she might do—or wear—next. Stay tuned.
