Jonathan Savage, the Nashville based interior designer of SAVAGE Interior Design and an alumnus of O’More College of Design participates in the 2nd Annual O’More Alumni Show House.
WHAT O’MORE MEANT TO HIM
“O’More College of Design was a building block to my career in residential interior design. I appreciate the skills and competencies honed at O’More; I use the knowledge that I gleaned while there each and every day.”
Upon walking into the grand foyer, I immediately knew that I wanted to pay tribute to the classic architectural elements while mixing in a transitional palette. An entrance or foyer is typically a pass through and often cast aside, but I wanted this area to be an interesting space where everyone would want to gather. We worked with Vintage Millworks to create a custom tracery ceiling that plays off of the original moldings. We wanted a paint color that would let these moldings pop, so we opted for the fantastic Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray. The long, narrow shape of the foyer is the perfect stage for a Steinway Baby Grand piano that anchors the back of the room. An oversized handkerchief planter sits atop a custom Giacometti-style hall table in the center of the foyer created by Ironware International. Local art consultant Betsy Wills helped us find artwork that works nicely with the soft and comfortable pieces upholstered in a fabulous silk gray and mustard yellow ikat from one of my favorite fabric lines, Carleton V.
