Since I’m not the only member of the Fetch team who’ll be celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans today, I’ll keep this week’s column brief! We hope the rest of you will celebrate too, either in spirit or with spirits like my buddy Mitch Rosenthal’s delicious Uptown Hurricane (see last week’s Fetch) or my favorite Ramos Gin Fizz, below, an excellent way to begin the festivities. Happy Carnival!
Ramos Gin Fizz
1 generous jigger of gin
1 teaspoon sugar
1 egg white, lightly beaten
3 drops orange flower water
2 tablespoons heavy cream
The juice of half a lime
The juice of half a lemon
Place all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a glass.
