A Sunny Weekend Getaway

Fashion May 5th, 2014

It’s time for a sunny weekend out of the city and on the coast. Replace your laptop with that book you’ve been wanting to read for months. Leave the vitamins at home and get cured in the sun and salt water. Walk endless hours on the shore barefoot, your priceless pedicure. Eat fresh seafood from the local ice house, take a nap on a blanket, wear sunscreen and let us do the packing! Here are some ideas to throw into your carry-on for a weekend getaway. Remember a few versatile essentials go a long way. Keep it simple and enjoy!

This tote acts as a carryall en route to your destination and beach tote once arrived. The crisp canvas material is sturdy enough to pack it full of all your weekend essentials. And the neutral colors go with any look.

These calfskin wedges in nude go with everything. From shorts, to jeans, to a summer dress – you might only need to pack these!

This bikini is stylish, simple and functional. A must bring for any weekend getaway.

Always, always pack a scarf! This yellow linen one makes any outfit a bit more summery and will bring out the beach glow. Use it as a sarong during the day and wrap up in it for those cool breezy evenings.

Grab your favorite blanket for a day out on the sand. Throw it down, pile up your travel companions and take a nice nap!

Don’t leave home without throwing in a button-down or two. A classic cotton one like this in periwinkle is great for a beach-cover up, grocery store run or lunch with friends.

Accessorize! This seashell necklace is perfectly fitting for the weekend trip and can go with you to dinner and drinks or even a bike ride and walk on the beach. Wear it long or double it up.

Possibly a bit heavy for your carry-on, but well worth it once you have arrived at your destination. Enjoy a late afternoon paddle ball game with this handmade paddle set. Did we say well worth it?

Tired from too much paddle ball? Get into your beach read. Julia Child’s novel, My Life In France is delightful, funny and inspiring to anyone who likes to cook.

A simple cotton tank. Tried and true and works with everything. Dress it up with the wedges, white jeans and seashell necklace or down with a pair of shorts. Even soft enough to wear to bed.
