I adore the great city of New York and appreciate the rich culture which influences my choices from day to day.   I often question why, although it is one of the most beloved cities in the world and 1 of 3 major fashion capitols, we as Americans do not embrace and pay more attention to all the amazing things that are made in this great city.

Now more than ever, with the recent events of Hurricane Sandy, it is important that we do our part to support our local economy. I have always pondered this very idea, to the extent that I not only chose to produce my line of bags exclusively in New York but I have also co-founded the “Make it in Manhattan” business initiative including a documentary and blog.

The initiative was created to celebrate and support New York/American design and the importance of local manufacturing, providing consumers a resource to find these great products. With the holidays right around the corner I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite New York and American made products. So, without further adieu…

1. Me personally, I am a neutral girl so these S. Carter earrings make a statement by being interesting rather than colorful. Available with black, silver or gold wire hooks –

2. Michelle Vale Keitel Clutch with removable chain in gold, silver or both… Of course I am partial to my beloved bags and they are extremely versatile. This bag easily goes day to night.  Pair it with jeans or a LBD for that holiday cocktail soiree you plan to attend –

3. Current Elliot Mesh print skinny jeans. A girl can never have too many jeans and Current definitely is the stand out brand when it comes to printed jeans!

4. On the nails… Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance… I am not so big on color so I typically add just the littlest pop of color. This is just the perfect way!

Happy Shopping!

Michelle Vale

PS. In celebration of all things American, we are currently running a contest on my blog, Make it in Manhattan… All you have to do is share with us your favorite American made brand or product in an effort to help us spread the word. (You will be entered to win a free tote)
